Treasured Friend

No matter where I might wander in the paths that I create: walk, run, or crawl.

At any step I can turn and find you there, faithfully lifting me, wherever should I fall.

As I look forward, I know you will be there in my end, as I look back now to see you at my start,

My past is forgiven; my present mistakes a future shadow, forgotten in the forgiveness of your heart.

Where I’ve come from, what I am, where I’ll be, are all mirrors of what I’ve done and what I’ll do,

But more important than the outward appearance is the inside heart, whose reflection is what you view.

And although I oft suffer the consequence of actions, I know you will never abandon or not care,

For etched in my heart is the promise you spoke, you would never leave or forsake and be forever there.

In my days long or short, whether sorrows or joys, times both, I feel your love extend,

Of greater worth than gold is the hand reaching out, my forever most treasured friend.
