We Forget

We forget to see the small miracles, the blessings, all the little things you do,

until we look back at the footprints in the trials we’ve already come through.

We forget to see your presence until all is said and done,

when unharmed through temptation we finally, forgiven come.

We forget in our burdens we are more than the sparrow.

We forget our path is the winding and the narrow.

We forget to keep our eyes, our minds, alone upon you,

when we’re so easily distracted, caught up in this world too.

We forget we aren’t here to be content, but to simply do

all the things that first and foremost honor and glorify you.

We forget when our steps falter in word and action every moment of each day,

that you have already provided in your blood our faithful escape way.

We forget when it seems unanswered, those giant pressing needs,

We forget to look small, nothing grows without first seeds.
